The 3rd annual Sandcastle Run and Walk is set for Saturday July 14, 2018 and I need your help. I know everyone is tight because of Harvey, my company included. However it is important that we keep the Run going to show that the Coastal Bend is open for business. This event raises money to help children with Diabetes go to summer camp. Without Camp Sandcastle many of these young people would not be able to attend summer camp. Please consider helping. Thanks to our sponsors who have signed up so far. Please call my office at 361-888-0268 to help. It is needed.

PADRE BALLI PARK UPDATE
To say this project has been a struggle is an understatement. Everything that could go wrong on this has. That being said we are open for business so please send your friends and neighbors over to use this wonderful facility.
BUDGET TIME IS UPON US
It is almost that time again. The effort of trying to prepare a budget for Nueces County will be far greater this year than in any time in my tenure. With the anticipated lost revenue from Harvey devaluations along with the revenue lost in having IB Magee and Padre Balli shut down for some time is going to make this year’s budget really tough. I still believe you spend what you make and if we make less then we spend less. If that means hard cuts I am all for that. If that means digging into reserves on a one eime basis I am ok with that. You have reserves for disasters and boy was Harvey a disaster. Raising taxes is never a good thing but raising them on people after a devastating hurricane is even worse. The Coastal Bend is still in recovery mode whether you felt it individually or not. Port A is better but they are a long way from back. That also goes for parts of North Padre and the small part of Aransas Pass that is located in Nueces County. We must be mindful of those folks still just trying to get back on their feet with this budget. Sometimes you just have to say no to things people WANT to sacrifice for things that people NEED. Thank you for the opportunity to serve. Please call my office at 361-888-0268 anytime for assistance.
